The present research study examined the use of instructional technology as an intervention in teaching and learning biology and a strategy for improving learning outcomes and persistence levels of PU college students. The study examined the impact of instructional technology on students’ learning outcomes and persistence levels. Instructional technology integrated with traditional classroom instruction significantly and positively (p < .005) influenced learning outcomes and persistence of students when compared with a control group of students, using only traditional classroom instruction. The Recommendations include further research in using instructional technology for other subject areas to facilitate the acquisition of the relevant instructional technology to meet the content and needs of student. Findings of the study also have recommendations for appropriate professional development for teachers to adopt instructional technology in their class room teaching.
