Writing has always been seen as an important skill in English language acquisition. Results from various language studies have shown that the teacher who emphasizes and focuses on the writing skills in the study can make students efficient in generating and organizing creative ideas. The present study is an attempt to study the effectiveness of strategies in improving writing skills (in total and components wise viz., grammatical skill, compositional skill and domain knowledge) in English among IX standard students. A sample of 103 students were selected from the population of two sections of grade ninth of two Private schools. Following the random sampling technique 48 students were allotted to experimental and 55 students to control group. Results revealed that the newly developed strategies found to be more effective in enhancing the level of writing skills in English of secondary school students.
