INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) AND TEACHER EDUCATION By Debabrata Bhattacharjee[1]

Abstract

Rapid development of computer networks and information technologies,i.e., ICT  along with Internet and World Wide Web cause expansion of Electronic Learning ( e- learning) and also frequent use of e- recourses. Education programmes delivery via virtual learning environments is a convenient form of education for learners who want to learn from home whenever and in Teacher-Education programme, the very frequent use of ICT is commonly observed as Teacher-Education programme empowered by ICT –driven infrastructure can have an excellent opportunity to come up to ensure academic excellence, quality assured instruction and leadership quality building in a knowledge -based future society. In today, e-learning along with the use of ICT must be a part a part of strategy in many Teacher- Training institutions that are trying to make success in basic education, higher education, continuing education   and training too. This paper is dedicated to opportunities that this new form of education makes. Moreover, challenges and shortcomings of ICT in should be considered by Teacher- Training institutions and learners too.
