Abstract
Students can learn on their own and independently in a modern learning environment that incorporates technology and student-centered learning. Similarly the digital learning environment enables all children to learn independently, achieve academic progress and promote equity in education. However, it is uncertain if this benefits linguistic minority children equally with other children. The review aims to highlight the challenges faced by linguistic minority students in the digital learning environment and to propose possible solutions. This paper examines the technical, pedagogical and other barriers faced by linguistic minority students in digital learning environment. The review is based on secondary data collected from various studies from 2010 to 2025. A systematic search was conducted using databases such as Google Scholar, Eric and Research Gate, employing keywords such as linguistic minority students, modern learning environment and technological challenges. The results indicate that language minority students face numerous challenges in the areas of technology, pedagogy, and language.
