Abstract
Everyone agrees that one of the most potent and significant tools for influencing people, societies, and the world is education. A pedagogical change from teacher-centric, passive instruction to learner-driven, active engagement is required due to the ongoing transformation of the educational landscape in the twenty-first century. The synergistic potential of two different but complimentary approaches—Student-Centred Learning (SCL) and famous psychologist Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats (STH) strategy—is examined in this article. SCL offers the theoretical foundation for a learner-driven environment by emphasizing the needs, interests, and active engagement of students. The STH approach encourages students to examine complicated problems from several, simultaneous viewpoints by providing a useful toolkit for organizing cognitive processes. Higher-order cognitive abilities including creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking should be improved by this synthesis. In order to show how this combined approach might help students become more autonomous, productive, and creative thinkers, this paper reviews the existing literature, describes the integrated technique, and discusses the pedagogical consequences. Thus this proves a shift from Teacher-led to Learner-driven.
