EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE OF SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CONTEXT OF CERTAIN DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES By Dr. Suresh Chand[1]

 

Abstract

The investigation was intended to study the emotional intelligence among secondary school students with respect to certain demographic variables. For this , sample of 135 students of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh was taken and a tool namely  Emotional Intelligence Scale (EIS)by Anukool Hyde, Sanjyot Tethe and Upinder Dhar (2001) was administered .The collected data were analyzed by employing statistical techniques like mean, S.D. and t-test. The result reveals that girls are emotionally intelligent than boys. Secondary school students belonging to nuclear family possess significantly better emotional intelligence than their joint family counterparts whereas Emotional Intelligence is by and large similar irrespective of area, category and school type.
