Abstract

The present study is an attempt to analyse the learning difficulty in mathematics. The sample comprised of 171 sixth standard children with dyscalculia. The authors explain the symptoms and types of mathematical disability. In this study the different components like fundamental mathematics, task related to geometry, place value task, task related to mathematical language, fraction and decimal, money transaction, sign task, word problem, selection of proper unit, conversion from one unit to another, task related to measurement, time calculation were analysed. The results showed that there is a significant positive correlation between the psychosocial variables considered in the study and the academic achievement of students with dyscalculia. The authors also suggested the remedial strategies to overcome the mathematical disabilities.
