Abstract

One of the important transitions students must make between high school and college is the amount of and type of studying required. College-level classes can be much harder and, because you spend less time in class, you must do more work outside of class. An exploratory survey was used for the study to asses the study habits of Nursing students. The aims and objectives of the study were to explore the study habits among nursing students, associate study habits with selected demographic variable and to identify the frequency and percentage distribution of the determinants of study habits. The study was carried out at nursing institute in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The Participants were the 100 prospective Nursing students of  post Basic Bsc Nursing and B.Sc Nursing Programme. A semi structured questionnaire was used. Out of the 100 sample, 71% of students have average study habits, 25% have good study habits and 4% have poor study habits. There was a significant association between course of study and study habits at 0.05 level of significance and no association between age, marital status and medium of instruction in school and study habits. Assessment of students learning style preferences and prior learning helps faculty to design learning experiences that best meet the diverse learning needs of the students in their programme.(3)
