Abstract

The purpose of the study was to find out the level of awareness among the parents of children with mental retardation with regard to PWD act1995. A survey was conducted with a sample of 200 parents from rehabilitation organizations and special schools of children with mental retardation situated, Hyderabad and Secunderabad. A questionnaire was developed to find out the level of awareness among the parents. The questionnaire consists of questions regarding PWD act. Item analysis was carried out to find out the level of awareness among parents with regard to PWD act. Results indicated that there is urgent need to educate parents about PWD act
