Abstract
No system of education is of any use unless it aims to develop proper study habits in the students. It is generally believed nowadays that students do not devote sufficient time to their studies and seldom have proper study habits. Most of the students spend their time watching television, playing cricket etc. while on the other hand, some students who spend numerous hours in study feel dejected when they get poor marks. All these points to the need for developing proper study habits. The present study has been conducted on a sample of 200 students (100 boys and 100 girls) of +1 class randomly selected from rural and urban schools from science and arts stream. Data were collected with the help of Study Habits Inventory by Dr. N.S. Yadav. The data obtained were analyzed statistically and finding of the study reveal that significant differences exist between the study habits of adolescent boys and girls. Significant difference is also found between the study habits of rural and urban adolescents. No significant difference was found between the study habits of science and arts adolescents. So it is suggested that school should provide proper environment to improve the study habits of adolescents
