ROLE OF DR. B.R.AMBEDKAR IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT WITH REFERENCE TO EDUCATION AND POLITICS IN PRESENT SCENARIO By Ajay Kumar

Abstract

In Indian society, men and women are considered to be the two sides of coin and wheels of the chariot of life. In every role, as a sister and as a wife-a woman has been inspiring man to contribute constructively in every sphere. In earlier civilizations of the world and of the Indus Valley in particular, women were considered a source of life. Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar tried to give equal status for women with implementation of Hindu Code Bill in Indian Society. Ambedkar was not only the father of Indian constitution he was a great freedom fighter, politcal leader, philosopher, thinker, economist, editor, social reformer, revivalist of Buddhism and was first Indian to break the barrier in the way of advancement of women in India. Present study includes the role of contribution of Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar in the upiftment of  women status  with reference to  education and politics. This paper also includes the educational status of women in Vedic period, Muslim period, British period, Pre-Independence and Post independence period, constitutional provisions provided to them and their political participation in Lok Sabha in today scenario.
