Abstract
India is a land of religions, languages and customs. Many religions are flourishing here since long back. Each religion has its own traditions and beliefs. It is important to note that throughout history the Indian society was never homogenous. It was highly diverse religiously, culturally, caste-wise and linguistically but there was hardly any tension among these groups. But in modern days, sometimes due to some reasons, the harmony among these religions becomes imbalanced, and a new threat has emerged in the society that is called communalism. This phenomenon began with the establishment of British rule in India. At present not only India but the whole world is suffering from the threat of communalism. Therefore, the only way to eradicate and minimise this threat is secular outlook. The present study was an attempt to study the secular attitude of madarsa students through qualitative method. The qualitative analysis of 20 madarsa students’ responses revealed that the madarsa students possess secular attitude. Keywords: Secularism. Secular attitude, Madarsa students.
