Abstract

Education becomes our basic need to develop. It is only the education which can bring us to illumination out of the dark. Due to the poverty, poor people do work in the industries, companies to get money from these sources and to fulfill their requirements like  food, clothes,  shelter etc. They also involve their children to earn more money and don’t let their children to study. Due to the poverty the child becomes laborer and these circumstances could potentially restrict a child or student to focus and concentrate towards study. The Govt. (Central and State) has provided number of schemes to attract poor students towards school, like Mid-day meal, free uniform, no fee etc.  In spite of all these facilities still our children literacy rate as well as enrollment in schools is not 100%. The Research question in this qualitative study is ‘What are the problems faced by poor children in getting education?’  In this qualitative research the Descriptive survey method was adopted to study the problems faced by poor students who are studying in Govt. schools and the poor children who are unable to join the school even. A sample of 50 children was taken. Four questionnaires were prepared by the investigator to conduct interview of 50 (25+25) students, 10 parents and 10 teachers. Different questionnaires were prepared for the students who are in the school and who are out of school. For data collection investigators interviewed each child personally after making him comfortable. The percentage was used as technique to analyse data. The results show that the lack of money and ignorant behavior of parents leads to number of other problems like domestic violence, drinking, inadequate physical facilities etc. which certainly affect the schooling and total education of the poor children.
