Abstract
In the present study the investigator attempted to study the job satisfaction of high school teachers and to compare their job satisfaction with respect to some demographic variables. Another important objective of the study was to find out the influence of gender, marital status, type of school and locality of school on the job satisfaction. For the purpose of investigation, the investigator employed normative survey method. The sample comprised of 324 high school teachers working in schools located in District Kulgam of Jammu and Kashmir State, India. Stratified random sampling technique was employed for the selection of the sample. For collecting data from respondents the investigator employed Job Satisfaction scale constructed and Standardized by Meera Dixit (1993). The obtained data were subjected to statistical techniques like frequency and percentage analysis, mean, standard deviations, t- test and multiple regressions for arriving at meaningful results. The findings of the study revealed: i) high school teachers (entire sample and various sub samples) possess average level of job satisfaction. ii) There are significant differences in the job satisfaction of high school teachers with respect to gender, marital status and type of school. No significant difference was found in the job satisfaction of high school with respect to locality of school. iii) All independent variables except locality of school were found to have significant influence on the job satisfaction.
