Abstract
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” -Nelson Mandela The above words indicate importance of education .India, the largest democratic country in the world strives in order to provide education to each and every individual. Various govt who came in power in state as well as centre make policies, allocate resources and legislate rules in order to enhance the capability of the citizen. Kerala is the state having largest literacy rate in India with 93.91%. But still a large section is denied or lack access to education. This article tries to define the current status of education in India especially concentrating on Kerala as well as on primary education. What is the current status of Indian education? What are the impediments to its growth? How it can be solved?
